This only means that you will be limited to only web based support (which is usually enough).VCDS DRV is a diagnostic tool developed by Ross-Tech that is used to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, and Skoda vehicles. If you buy a used interface, the only thing you miss is that you will not be the "registered owner" (unless you pay Ross-Tech $99 registration fee). I don't even remember what the problem was anymore, but I do remember getting an almost immediate reply on a Sunday afternoon directly from the founder/owner/president (whatever he calls himself) of the company.

I was pleasantly surprised to get a reply several hours later (on a Sunday afternoon) directly from Uwe Ross - and he knew the answer to my problem. I once had a strange problem on a Sunday and I sent an email to fully expecting to get a reply sometime on Monday. Also, their web support exists on their own support forum plus they regularly monitor the OBDII forum here and a Vag-Com forum on the Vortex to answer questions and offer support. You also get phone support for a year and unlimited email support if you are the registered owner. Click to expand.Yeah, I really didn't say enough about their support.
